SECOND HELPINGS FOR FIRSTS!

The opening game of the season provided nothing in the way of a shock as Trojans 2 were headed all the way by  the first team 80-59.

Despite being without four of their regular starters, the senior side eased home after leading by around twenty for most of the second half and were led in by some superb breaking from Warwickshire Hawks’ star Mark Larner who hit 32 points.

The first period was predictably quiet after Trojans 1 had scored five seconds into the game, and despite a brief second quarter rally, the experienced firsts sped into a 43-23 lead just before half-time.

There were a few fractious moments in the latter stages but nothing which caused any problem for the match officials and the game ended with handshakes all round.

Egis Baliunas was top scorer for the second team with 18 as Matt Barr grabbed 10 and Richard Onions and Dominik Gorgol (pictured) countered for the victors with 17 and 14 respectively.
