BASKETBALL DINOSAURS DO JC PROUD!
January 25, 2023
A motley crew of members and former members gathered to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of one of the Club’s former Chairmen at his funeral on Tuesday 24th January.
From day one back in 1972 to current times, the Club was well represented as John’s wife Val, her daughters Katie and Jenny plus other family members led the tributes to JC at the service, held at Rainsbrook Crematorium Rugby, where the sun shone for the congregation of around one hundred from various associations with which he had been involved.
The party then transferred to The Golden Lion in Easenhall where fond memories were exchanged over several hours and an array of pictures was displayed showing the ‘Old Trojan’ through the years in sporting, working and family modes.
JC joined Trojans back in the early seventies (Caludon Lions as it was then and latterly Callow Basketball Club before the move to Tile Hill) and he played a major part in keeping the club going through what has become 50 years, being Chairman twice and a Vice President too, finally retiring from the running game and spending three seasons as part of the Walking basketball Group before ill-health stopped him from taking part. John, even in retirement was always an interested friend and colleague who will be sadly missed.
