FIRSTS COME FROM BEHIND TO GRIND OUT WIN – STAY TOP!

October 19, 2022

AFTER SPENDING THE FIRST TWO QUARTERS TRYING TO DIRECT THE BALL THROUGH THE OPPOSITION’S HOOP, THEY FINALLY MANAGED TO EDGE AHEAD BEFORE SHOOTING TO A 79-61 VICTORY OVER COVENTRY TORNCADOES 1.

IT SEEMD AS IF THE TORNADOES” RING HAD A BIG “CLOSED” SIGN OVER IT, FOR NOTHING DROPPED IN THE EARLY STAGES, AND IT WAS GALLANT SHOWING FROM TORNADOES WHO WENT IN AT HALF TIME TRAILLING THE SEVEN-TIMES CHAMPIONS BY JUST THREE AT 41-38.

BUT THEN, EVENTUALLY, THE LID CAME OFF AND THE HEREWARD-BASED SIDE ROARED ON BY ALMOST THE ENTIRE SECOND TEAM SPED INTO A TEN POINT ADVANTAGE BEFORE A FINAL FLURRY SAW THEM WIN COMFORTABLY.

IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER THOUGH HAD THEY ENJOYED SUCCESS FROM THE LINE AS THEY LANDED JUST 8 FROM 23 ATTEMPTS IN A TOUGH FAST GAME TO WHICH BOTH SIDES CONTRIBUTED BEFORE TORNADOES TIRED, THE FOUL-COUNT RACKED UP AND SOME SUPERB BASKETS FROM ASH DICKSON BROUGHT MORE THAN A FEW GASPS OF ADMIRATION.

HE FINISHED AS TOP SCORER, WITH GRACEFUL MICHAEL ‘JUNIOR’ STOKES RESPONDING ON 22.
