FIRSTS EDGE CLOSER TO TITLE

February 19, 2019

DESPITE BEING WITHOUT THREE REGULARS TROJANS 1 MANAGED TO OVERCOME THE CHALLENGE OF THEIR NEAREST RIVALS ARDEN GRIFFINS TO EDGE A LITTLE CLOSER TO THEIR FIFTH TITLE IN SEVEN YEARS.

LEADING THE WAY WAS MR RELIABLE ASH DICKSON (13) WHO CHIPPED IN FROM ALL ANGLES TO LANDED 29 POINTS AS TROJANS STOPPED THE GRIFFINS’ SCORING MACHINE PAUL ROBERTS. HE WAS THWARTED TIME AND TIME AGAIN BY ALEX HERNANDEZ RICO WHO PLAYED A TOUGH DEFENSIVE ROLE ON HIM THROUGHOUT, GIVING THE HOT-SHOT LITTLE TIME ON THE BALL AND RESTRICTING HIM TO 13 POINTS.

TREVOR ROBINSON WAS DELIGHTED WITH HIS TEAM’S PERFORMANCE AND SAID AFTERWARDS THAT HEĀ  FELT WITH THE ABSENTEES THERE, TROJANS WOULD HAVE WON BY A BIGGER MARGIN BUT HE WAS PLEASED TO GET THE VICTORY.

MARK LARNER (10) CAME GOOD IN THE FINAL STAGES WHEN GRIFFINS WERE ON THE UP AND AUSTIN DICKSON (4) DROVE THE SIDE FORWARDS TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO PUT THE VISITORS UNDER EXTREME PRESSURE BEFORE TROJANS CAME HOME 82-65.
