October 11, 2022
FIVE PLAYERS IN DOUBLE FIGURES SAYS IT ALL AS TROJANS FIRST TEAM DEMOLISHED PROMOTED NUNEATON PREDATORS 91-52 TO GO TOP OF DIVISION ONE.
HAVING STRUGGLED TO PUT OUT A TEAM LAST WEEK AT TAMWORTH, COACH TREVOR ROBINSON HAD THE LUXURY OF A NINE-MAN SQUAD FOR THE TRIP TO GEORGE ELLIOTT SCHOOL AND IT WAS TEAMWORK WHICH BROUGHT THE RESULT AS EVERY MEMBER GOT ONTO THE SCORESHEET AND TROJANS DOMINATED EACH OF THE FOUR PERIODS.
IT WAS A QUARTET OF THREE-POINTERS WHICH KEPT NUNEATON IN THE GAME IN THE OPENING TEN MINUTES, WHICH CLOSED AT 17-22, BUT THESE WERE COUNTERED WITH STRIKES FROM EACH OF THE STARTERS, INCLUDING BHUWAN LIMBU (PICTURED), ELEVATED FROM THE SECOND TEAM AND HIS 11 POINT TOTAL SHOWED HE CAN COMPETE AT THE TOP LEVEL. SUPPLEMENTING HIM, THE RELIABLE MARK LARNER, WHO DISPLAYED HIS USUAL CALM SOPHISTICATION AND PHIL ROBERTS WHO PROVIDED GREAT SUPPORT FOR OLD STAGERS ASH DICKSON AND DOMINIK GORGOL.
TROJANS THEN EXPOSED THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TOP AND BOTTOM, WITH A DEVASTATING FINALE WHICH BROUGHT THEM A 25-6 BURST TO END A GOOD NIGHT FOR THE AWAY SIDE AND SEND ROBINSON HOME HAPPY.
SCORERS: LARNER 19, GORGOL 15, DICKSON 14, LIMBU 11, JANES 9, KOLAWOLE 9, JONES 3, ROBINSON 1.
