Trojans are saddened to report the passing of former Chairman John Chapman who died just before Christmas after a sustained illness.

John (pictured) was present when the club was formed with the merging of Caludon Lions and Chrysler Basketball club back in the early seventies and was chairman of the club on two occasions – from 1983-89 and again from 1997-2001.

He was made a Vice President in 2009 and continued to play socially until retiring to take part in the walking basketball group from 2016.

Club Secretary Mike Maddox, who played with JC throughout this time with Trojans/Callow and Caludon said, “his charm was evident throughout his career with the club and the trademark was his gentlemanly behaviour towards all, club members, opposition and officials alike.”

Funeral details are not yet known.

John became the third member of the club to have passed away in 2022 following Peter Cross in October and Alan Bulpitt who died a few days before John, both of whom were also founder members.
