TORNADOES UNDONE BY MAXWELL’S HAMMER

October 22, 2021

Trojans 3 faced the prospect of being hit by a double Tornadoes blast when they found themselves 7-0 down against a young, enthusiastic Tornadoes 2 side at Hereward College.

Having lost to the club’s first team the previous week, there was frustration on the home bench as the lid was kept firmly on the Tornadoes hoop, but once breeched, Trojans began to pull away.

A low-scoring, error-strewn affair saw the home side move to 24-15 by half-time with Iain Maxwell and Mattas Novelskas leading the way. But after the break, the Tornadoes had blown themselves out as Trojans eased to victory, Trevor Robinson’s 13 edged out by Maxwell’s 14 as Sebastian Capitani made 12 for Tornadoes.

TROJANS FIELDED A FULL 12-MAN SQUAD BUT LOST DAVID SANCHEZ AFTER JUST A FEW MINUTES. THE GUARD HAD BEEN ON THE END OF TEAMMATE TREVOR ROBINSON’S ELBOW THE PREVIOUS WEEK AND HAD TURNED OUT, NURSING A BROKEN RIB WHICH PROVED TO BE TOO MUCH FOR HIM AND FORCING HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE GAME.
