RESUMPTION HOPES LOOKING BLEAK!
October 24, 2020
THINGS ARE LOOKING BLEAK FOR ANY RESUMPTION OF BASKETBALL AS THE COVID-19 LOCK-DOWN STOPPED ALL BASKETBALL ACTIVITY AT COVENTRY’S OLDEST CLUB TILE HILL TROJANS.
THE CLUB, WHICH USUALLY PLAYS AT HEREWARD COLLEGE, WHERE IT HAS BEEN BASED SINCE 1997 HAD BEEN FORCED TO FIND ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION SINCE RESUMING TRAINING IN JULY, DUE TO THEIR SPORTS HALL BEING TURNED INTO A TEACHING FACILITY FOR THE STUDENTS, AND HAD SET UP IN THE WOODLANDS ACADEMY COMPLEX IN BROAD LANE. HOWEVER, UNCER THE TIER 2 CONSTRAINTS, EVEN THOUGH UNDER 18 AND WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL WAS EXEMPT AND CONTINUING AT THE FORMER SCHOOL, THE ADULT SESSIONS, WHICH SAW THE GUYS PLAYING 3 V 3 IN BUBBLES OF 6 AT BOTH WALKING AND RUNNING BASKETBALL WERE SUSPENDED.
NOW THOUGH, ALL ACTIVITY IS AT AN END, AT LEAST TEMPORARILY, BUT EVEN WHEN THINGS COME OUT OF HIBERNATION – HOPEFULLY ON 2ND DECEMBER, THE CITY MAY BE MOVED BACK INTO TIER 2 LEVELS OF RESTRICTION.
CONSEQUENTLY ALL TROJANS’ ACTIVITIES ARE HALTED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
