ANOTHER LATE LATE SHOW DOWNS GRIZZLIES!
February 17, 2022
For the second time this week Trojans came from well back to snatch victory in a Warwickshire Basketball League encounter.
This time it was the turn of Trojans 3 who failed miserably in the opening half of their game against JM Grizzlies before coming out in the second half to turn a 33-18 deficit into a magnificent 49-47 win as they thwarted the Grlzziles’ offense to take the final two periods 31-14.
The claw-back against the six-man Bears’ squad came after the visitors to Hereward had a real taste of honey in the opening quarters and looked on course for win number seven, but the Reds had other ideas and the gap narrowed into the fourth quarter as Trevor Robinson became more and more dominant inside.
As the game entered the last minute the scores were level at 47-47 when young Sam Coombes was fouled and sank one of his brace from the line, to be followed by veteran Andy Dickson who followed suit to give Trojans a single basket lead with seconds remaining.
Grizzlies went for broke and tried a three-point shot which fell short and the buzzer stopped the action with flailing Grizzlies arms trying desperately to stop the clock and give them a sight of a chance – without success.
Robinson led Trojans on 19 and Daniel Valente topped the scoring for the Warwick side going one better with 20
